Fashion Forward Dubai Day 2 2013

The first season of Fashion Forward Dubai is happening this week , an event to celebrate regional fashion talents , participate in panel discussions and shop for accessories at the pop up shops . I chose to attend day 2 , one because it fell on the weekend , two because Rabih Kayrouz (Lebanese Parisian designer) was heading a panel and three for the KAGE  fashion show!

Here are snippets of Day 2 .C’etait un plaisir, will definitely attend season 2

Levantine Tarboush Bookshelf

Tarboush also known as Fez is the most familiar male headpiece from the Levantine region traced back to when the Ottomans came to power and invaded our region. Today the Tarboush is a historic icon for many Lebanese, Syrians and Jordnians , you will see it displayed in restaurants , shops, hotel lobbies and of course still used in theatre , film and photography.

As a hopelessly nostalgic Lebanese expat I decorate my house with many pieces that remind me of home , the Tarboush being one of them.

My favorite buy from the Beirut Art Beat exhibition @ DIFC Dubai. The sign says “Ahla Wu Sahla” , a typical Lebanese welcoming saying, which i placed at the main entrance of our home.
